ExiTool: A More Practical Approach To Escaping Your Automobile [Multitools]

Here are a few things you don’t have time to do when your car plunges into an icy lake: remove a Leatherman multitool from your glove compartment; unfold it; cut through your seatbelt; refold it; smash through your window. Thankfully there’s the ExiTool, a clever little gadget that attaches to your seat belt for quick access when your shit goes “glug, glug, glug.” It includes a high-carbon stainless steel slicer, a tungsten carbide smasher, and, just for good measure, an LED light. Sure, having an open blade attached to your seat belt all the time isn’t ideal, but it’s definitely more ideal than being trapped in your car at the bottom of some murky body of water. The ExiTool will be available soon for $27, so if you’re the type of person that worries about this thing it’s probably a worthwhile investment

Your Technotronic playlist aside, running on a treadmill is inherently boring because you are stuck in a room running on the same platform. But what if you could switch things up and simulate actual, real world topography? The NordicTrack x7i Interactive Incline Trainer, $2,000, is loaded with Wi-Fi to interface with iFit Live, a fitness database that pulls actual trail and marathon routes from Google Maps (which, though not supported in the limited official workout library at this time, should really include Google Moon ). The corresponding information shifts your incline dynamically (40-degree incline, 6-degree decline), plus you get to see a bird’s eye view that allows you to track progress through your practice environment, or you can even take a look from the ground level through Google Street View

Here : – 10.1 inch screen – 2GB RAM – 64GB flash storage – similar in design to the N210 (pictured) – 3G – 1.5Ghz Snapdragon processor The info was announced officially, by way of Samsung’s Phil Newton. Toshiba TG01 Gets Super-Sensitive With Third-Party Motion Sensor [Toshiba]

Folks at Usuda Research Institute and Systems Corp got tired of their Toshiba TG01s just not being sensitive enough. (Unlike that dreamy Wii MotionPlus!) So rather than calling it quits on the relationship, they built a super-sensitive motion sensor . If you hit the link for a pair of videos, you’ll see the DIY motion sensor in action. Those crazy tinkerers were able to make the attachment work by taking advantage of the TG01s USB host functionality, so this could be just one of the first examples of expansions for this gadget. Yeah, maybe the motion sensor isn’t very attractive and maybe using it to scroll through and zoom in and out of pictures isn’t that exciting, but I’m giddy that there could be a “shake to refresh” function reactive enough for me to not look like an idiot while shaking my phone. Oh! And the best part? The sleek and sexy TG01 has gotten through the FCC . [ wmpoweruser via MobileCrunch ]

Loop-In Concept Allows Users To Surf on Sidewalks [Concept]

by Chemmyone on Jul.23, 2009, under 3D, 3g, Ads, Concept, Hd, Home Automation, Led, Push, Rc, Rf, Setu, Surfing, Transportation, Up, design, skate, surf, the loop, transport

The Loop-In transportation concept hopes to combine the sensations of surfing and skating in to one device that users can use anywhere. The outside wheels have the ability to maneuver on a wide variety of surfaces and rotate independently of the board. The designers expect their wheel/board setup will give users the feeling of “pushing on a wave continuously”. Hopefully there are plans to manufacture the Loop-In soon, though I doubt it will be able to replicate the thrill of getting barreled. [ Tuvie ]
